Description / Mercedes M178 4.0T GT / GT-S AMG Downpipe
76mm (3 inch) Downpipes without catalyst or particulate filter available for the following models with M178 4.0 turbo engine:
- Mercedes AMG GT C190 462hp - 2015-2017
- Mercedes AMG GT C190 476hp - 2017->
- Mercedes AMG GT-C C190 557hp - 2017->
- Mercedes AMG GT-R C190 585hp - 2017->
- Mercedes AMG GT-S C190 510hp - 2015-2017
- Mercedes AMG GT-S C190 522hp - 2017->
By installing a larger bore downpipe backpressure in the exhaust drops which makes the turbo rev easier which means the turbo starts building pressure at lower RPM's. If during shifting the pressure drops it also builds back pressure faster.
By only installing a larger diameter downpipe the horsepower usually rises between 25 and 30hp and torque also goes up by 40 to 50Nm. Combining a downpipe with chiptuning brings even more extra power.
A software update (chiptuning) would be advised.
